This curricular unit is essential so that the student can acquire the skills and research techniques, as well as the autonomy and organization philosophy to prepare a Master's dissertation.

Evolution and specialisation of research methods. Scientific sources and their evaluation. Scientific method in natural sciences: description; control and understanding. Controllable versus uncontrollable phenomenon: limitations of experimental methods in the face of real-world complexity. Non-experimental methods: correlation; naturalistic observation; surveys; case studies. Types of research: descriptive; analytical; predictive; experimental. Research design: problem-solving approach; research questions and hypotheses; choice of research methods. Research process: organization of process; progress monitoring and control. Scientific communication: write, review, communicate.

It also includes innovative methodologies to support the teaching-learning process, namely the use of scientific research systems and automatic referencing.
