Masters Comparative and International Education

Comparative and International Education (CIE) is a field of Education Sciences which is present in the best universities. It is an area of study with greater tradition in Anglo-Saxon countries. This new educational offer of Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias occupies an empty place due to the absence of specialised training in the field of CIE in Portugal and in Portuguese-speaking countries. It has a highly motivated (and qualified) teaching staff in the issues of CIE, which will contribute to the relevant training of a new profile of education professionals. This Master programme thus aims to foster an in-depth understanding of the factors that contribute to the development and trajectories of education systems in different parts of the world. In students it develops the research skills necessary to understand, compare and critically assess the education policies and practices that characterise the education processes involved.

The following can apply to this Master programme: a) holders of a Bachelor degree or its legal equivalent; b) holders of a foreign academic degree awarded following the completion of a 1st cycle degree structured according to the principles of the Bologna Process of a State that adhered to this process; c) holders of a foreign higher education degree recognised as fulfilling the goals of the degree of Bachelor by the legally competent entity; d) holders of a an academic, scientific or professional curriculum that is recognised by the legally competent body of CUL as attesting the capacity to undertake this study cycle. Ordering criteria: - 50% grade of previous qualification - 50% curriculum appreciation Candidates without previous qualification, or without grade from the previous qualification: - 75% curriculum appreciation - 25% Motivation and Justification

This master¿s programme promotes the development of employability skills, appealing both in the public and in private sectors in Portugal or abroad. In that sense, the holders of a Master degree in Comparative and International Education can perform functions in sectors of the State related to education, in governmental and non-governmental organisations, in consultancy firms in education, and in research centres.

SCIENTIFIC SUPPORT The Master students participate in the activities of the Interdisciplinary Research Centre for Education and Development (www.ceied.ulusofona.pt), a centre that is accredited and funded within the scope of the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). The programme benefits from existing protocols with different universities in Brazil, Spain, the USA, Chile, Argentina, France or the United Kingdom.
