This discipline intends to give and analyse several sectoral relevant policies for portuguese economy, namely agricultural policy, industrial policy, energy policy, envoronmental policy, tourism policy and also formation and qualification policies of human resources. Intends, yet, to analyse innovation and innovation policies.

To know the most relevant carateristics of some sectoral policies. Understand the relevance of several sectoral policies. To know the most important measures and indicateurs of innovation. Internalize the essential paper of innovation to promote competitiveness and development. To know the most importantpolicies and programmes to suport innovation in Europe and Portugal.

Teaching methodologies and assessment
The methodologies used are the exposition of concepts followed immediately by their application to concrete cases and discussion of these situations. For this purpose, students use the most modern and sophisticated information and communication technologies.
