Learning outcomes (LO) - At the end of this unit, the students will be able to: LO1 - Define the main concepts and scope of corporate finance LO2 - Evaluate bonds and common stocks LO3 - Understand the concepts of risk, return, and cost of capital; Explain the portfolio theory and the Capital Asset Pricing Model; Compute the WACC (Weighted Average Cost of Capital) LO4 - Explain the main theories of capital structure (Modigliani & Miller, trade-off, and pecking order); Understand the effects of corporate taxes, financial distress, and agency costs; Identify the main aspects and implications of payout policy LO5 - Prepare the elements and apply suitable techniques for valuing businesse
