The UC of Air Quality Management intends to make students aware of the importance of this topic today and mainly, providing knowledge so that actions and methods can be identified to ensure good management of the Air Quality. In the theoretical component, concepts, themes and important legislation for this approach will be addressed. ¿ In the practical component of this UC, students develop tools to research information (scientific), for analysis and data processing, based on case studies, where they come into contact with air management legislation and with other types of assessment instruments (eg: emissions inventories , models and air quality monitoring networks)

Introduction to air pollution and indoor air quality (IAQ). The importance of air quality (AQ) management in the current scenario. Global issues associated with AQ Characteristics of the atmosphere, its stability and dynamics of the pollutants. Industrial sources and respective prevention AQ control and monitoring: Analysis of legal documents, in particular legislation in the area of ¿¿AQ; Air quality assessment based on the tools defined in the Air Quality Framework Directive (emission inventories, monitoring networks and air quality models); Analysis of air quality data, whether measured or simulated, and definition of strategies to reduce air pollution IAQ ventilation and control HVAC systems in buildings Application of audits in determining IAQ the diagnosis of IAQ Assessment of IAQ in buildings based on existing legal tools.

Objectives
Objectives
Master the dynamics of air pollutants, their quantification and the assessment of air quality, for outdoor (air pollution) and indoor (indoor air quality) environments. Provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to define and implement air quality management policies, contributing to reducing the effects of air pollution.

Teaching methodologies and assessment
The development of this CU will be based, whenever possible, on the application of the Problem Base Learning or project based learning method, enhancing students' research, analysis, critical analysis and decision-making skills. Several moments of discussion-learning will be held, based on the active participation of students, through moments of brainstorming, interactive games (kahoot and others similar).
