The concept of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH), which has been promoted, above all, in the 21st century, with the UNESCO Convention (2003), ratified by Portugal in 2008, as its main reference, lacks a better educational framework. It is this serious gap in important sectors of national activity that the Master's Degree in Intangible Cultural Heritage now aims to fill. Thus, this Master's Degree aims to respond to the lack of scientific-technical training faced by cultural councillors, senior technicians in museums, libraries, tourism and cultural heritage services, associations defending cultural heritage, folklore groups and other institutions and people involved in safeguarding and enhancing ICH.
