Objectives
Objectives
The intended learning outcomes involve providing the students with foundational knowledge on the legal regulation ofthe insurance activity, acknowledging the impact of European harmonization in this context, particularly in insurance distribution. After studying the main aspects of insurance activity regulation and supervision, the main issuesconcerning the insurance contract are put under analysis from the point of view of Private Law (principles, elements,formation and events of the insurance contract). Based on that broad understanding of the insurance activity andinsurance contract, the main types of insurance are then studied.

Teaching methodologies and assessment
Teaching methodologies and assessment
Combining a practical approach with a strong theoretical analysis of the subject, the lecturer presentation will besupported by student participation and student led presentations, in a way that instils and promotes their research andcritical analysis and discussion capabilities. Assessment will consist of the preparation and presentation of a written work, based on one of the topics taughtduring the curricular unit and with added research work performed by the student. The evaluation can also be done bymeans of a final exam.
