Class Gametogenesis, Fertilization and Early Embryo Development

This curricular unit is fundamental for the basic knowledge of gemetes formation (male and female) and the first 5-6 days of embryo development.

Theorical: Espermatogenesis: spematozoides formation and development Oogenesis: oocyte formation and development (nuclear and cytoplasmic maturation) Fertilization: sperm capacitation, acrosomic reaction, polispermy prevention, and pronuclear fromation Embryo development Laboratory: Familirazation with the instruments used for gamete and embryo manipulation (denudation pippetes) Familization and excusion of all culture dish used in the different techniques

The UC has lectures given by invited speaker, experts in the specific subeject. Class will be given by e-learning and/or presencially, when possible, and always with support of audiovisual media for better illustrate what is being discussed. There is a laboratory compoment, as well, in which the student will be familiarized with the tecnique of gametes manipulation, using glass beads with the same dimensions of oocyte and/or embryos.
