    This curricular unit aims to promote the understanding of fundamental principles of Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation, through especially the exercise and nutrition component. By having contact with key concepts of pathophysiology, semiology and effects of exercise and diet in the various factors of cardiovascular risk (primary prevention) and cardiovascular disease (secondary prevention), proposed in programmatic terms, it is intended that the student acquires tools that promote his clinical autonomy in the field of diagnosis and therapy of these particular pathologies, namely through the prescription of exercise and nutritional.

    1.Primary prevention: hypertension; Obesity, diabetes and metabolic syndrome; Dyslipidemia and Smoking. 1.2.Secondary prevention/rehabilitation: Stress and myocardial tests; heart disease; Heart Failure 1.3.Nutrition and cardiovascular health. 2. Epidemiology of sedentary behavior and accumulation patterns and their impact on CVD, as well as observation of intervention and experimental studies. 3. Nutrition and its role in the association with CVD.

    Objectives

    This curricular unit aims to promote the understanding of fundamental principles of Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation, through especially the exercise and nutrition component. To achieve this objective, education aims to achieve the acquisition of the following skills: 1.Review the function and regulation of the circulatory system in the context of adaptive responses to exercise and dysfunction caused by cardiovascular disease 2.Introduce the student to the pathophysiology of cardiovascular disease, the diagnostic methodology and its approach with special emphasis on the multidisciplinary nature of cardiovascular rehabilitation 3.Provide the student with clinical experience in cardiovascular prevention and rehabilitation, especially in nutritional and exercise prescription. 4.Introduce the student to the methodology of research and critical analysis that allow him to develop a research project proposal.
