Leadership is a central process for organizational management, particularly with regard to its stakeholders. The same applies to team management. There needs to be an adjustment between people, in terms of their skills, abilities, technical knowledge, motivations, and strategic objectives defined by the organization, which will consequently determine success through the achievement of the objectives. In this sense, this curricular unit aims to provide students technical skills development and critical thinking, necessary for them to be able to have an integrated view of main aspects that determine efficiency and effectiveness of leadership process, as well as the application based on a set of leadership and team management practices.

• Understand the concept of leadership; • Understand and identify what leaders do and their qualities; • Understand and identify the characteristics of an effective leader; • Understand and identify the main leadership theories, as well as their different styles; • Understand and identify leadership development process; • Understand the concept of team; • Identify differences between types of teams; • Understand the continuing relevance and importance of teamwork for organizations; • Identify different practices for effective leadership and effective team management.

Teaching methodologies and assessment
Classes will take place based on a theoretical-practical methodology, which is based on a brief presentation by teacher on the themes, followed by the consultation and analysis of students on program's themes, using commented readings, simulation cases, practical cases, theoretical presentations, discussion of texts and research work done by students.
