Study the Impact of Climate Change on Infrastructure
Research projects in development and awareness of this issue
27.06.23 - 17h25Climate change is a reality we have to deal with, giving rise to a number of challenges in all sectors of activity, and the construction of structures and buildings is no exception. Climate change is considered one of the greatest threats to the comfort and health of our buildings and infrastructure.
Although the uncertainty associated with the magnitude of the change is great, that our climate changes is unequivocal. As a result, making buildings and infrastructure (and their surroundings) more resilient to climate change is a priority for landlords and authorities. Early and planned climate adaptation action will increase the comfort, durability and safety of our buildings and infrastructure and therefore save money and ultimately lives.
In the area of Civil Engineering, at Lusófona University, numerous research projects are developed that seek to understand and study the true impacts of these same changes, on infrastructure such as buildings, bridges or roads.
Check out some of the projects being developed by the Civil Engineering Research Group:
- be-READY Project - REsilient road pavement for sustainabilitY li>
- BuildingAdapt Project - Pioneer study to analyze the resilience of university teaching buildings to climate change
- CAT Reshape Cities - Socio-ecological reshaping of European Cities and Metropolitan Areas
- ClimaBridge Project - Impact of climate change on the structural health of bridges
Lusófona University has sought to develop, within its community, a critical spirit and awareness of climate change, alerting all its stakeholders to the correct and conscious use of resources in the most diverse areas of activity. Continue to follow all Lusófona Verde actions!
