ULusófona Participates in Innovative PET-MRI Scanner Project

INNMEDSCAN Project advances in the development of a Hybrid PET-MRI Scanner

On 10th June, the Mid-Term Meeting of the INNMEDSCAN project took place in Prague, Czech Republic. This project is funded by the European Commission's European Research Executive Agency and is coordinated by Professor Svitlana Lyubchyk of Lusófona University.

Lusófona University plays a central role in INNMEDSCAN, an innovative project aimed at developing a Hybrid Magnetic Resonance Imaging/Positron Emission Tomography Scanner (PET-MRI).

During the meeting, the main advances of the project were presented by all the Consortium teams, with a significant contribution from Lusófona University. The Work Packages addressed included the Design and Production of Innovative Detectors on a Pilot Scale, Evaluation of the Performance Parameters of the Innovative Photodetectors, Manufacture and Testing of Electronic Module Components, Software Development, Assembly of the Detector Module for Innovative PET/MRI Hybrid Scanners, and Testing and Validation of the Prototype Detector Module.

In addition to Lusófona University, other entities in the consortium present at the meeting included COFAC (Portugal), Bolu Abant Izzet Baysal University (Turkey), Czech Technical University in Prague (Czech Republic), University of West Bohemia (Czech Republic), CascataChuva (Portugal), Institute for Nuclear Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (Ukraine), National Nuclear Research Center CJSC (Azerbaijan), and Institute of Radiation Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (Azerbaijan).

The presence of Lusófona University in INNMEDSCAN underscores its commitment to innovation and the development of advanced technologies in the field of medicine, reinforcing its prominent role in the European scientific research landscape.
