ULusófona Students Investigate Biodiversity on the University Campus
Environmental Engineering course identifies and catalogues tree species, promoting sustainability as part of the Eco-Schools programme
26.03.23 - 12h09

As part of the Spatial Planning curricular unit and the Eco-Schools programme, Environmental Engineering students from Universidade Lusófona once again carried out field research focused on the biodiversity of trees on the university campus. The project, led by lecturer Anabela Cruces, had the collaboration of engineer Hélder Dias, who is responsible for managing Lisbon City Council's green areas.
During the activity, the students used the Google Earth Pro tool to map the perimeters of the flowerbeds and locate the existing trees. In addition, this year they began building species identification cards, a new step in deepening their knowledge of the local flora.
This initiative not only enriches the students' practical training, but also contributes to promoting sustainability and preserving biodiversity in the university environment.
