Occupational health and safety management systems (OSH); 2. introduction to OSH, general concepts, analysis, assessment and risk management; normative references to support security management; implementation of OSH systems. 3. Safety in urban fire intervention 4. Forest Fire Safety Procedures - Safety triangle; - Individual protection equipment; - Individual sustainability (survival) equipment; - Physical and mental condition; - Knowledge and training; - 18 dangerous situations; - Basic safety rules. - Precautions when walking on rough terrain; - Recommendations in the presence of thunderstorms; - Safety when working with hose lines; - Safety when using hand tools; - Safety when using a chainsaw; - General safety rules when using vehicles; - Safety during unloading of aerial means; - Safety in the vicinity of helicopters; - Safety in emergency situations; - LACES security protocol. 5.     Objectives

    This curricular unit focuses on the study of procedures, standards and management systems that aim to promote quality, health and safety at work so that Civil Protection and Security Agents (APCS) can, in scenarios emergency and relief, strategically plan your intervention reducing your exposure to occupational risks. At the end of the UC, the student is expected to: Know the legal and regulatory framework regarding SGQSST. Master the general concepts about SGQSST. Be able to identify the parameters that may constitute an occupational risk for APCS associated with different emergency and relief situations. Learn about the main types of personal protective equipment and collective protective equipment as well as safety signs and promote their use in relief and evacuation operations, in natural and technological disasters. Acquire the competence to propose well-founded strategies to eliminate and/or reduce occupational risks.
  • Teaching methodologies and assessment

    Teaching methodologies and assessment

    Teaching is based on classroom work and independent study. Theoretical-practical sessions include content presentation, discussion, and application to real cases, possibly involving field activities. Students engage in problem-solving and present their work individually or in groups. Tutorials support independent study. A practical assignment will be proposed, focusing on applying course content while encouraging creativity and research. Students are expected to use relevant sources to support their final report. This assignment also promotes self-learning and deeper knowledge acquisition.
