Presentation
The curricular unit (UC) Electrical Installation Design is intended not only to apply the theory of electrical circuits to electrical installations, allowing you to review concepts and study alternative solutions and sizing, but also to make known the methodology of electrical installation design. electrical installations and apply national legislation and regulations. Given that this is the first project discipline, emphasis is placed on the low voltage of most frequent use and on medium - low voltage conversion through transformer stations. The design of electrical installations is one of the fundamental tasks of the electrical engineer, whose study begins in this UC.

Objectives
Objectives
At the end of the curricular unit (CU) the student: 1) Designs simple installations for the use of electrical energy in buildings, at low voltage, in accordance with the procedures and standards adopted in Portugal; 2) Designs simple low voltage electrical energy distribution and public lighting installations according to the procedure adopted in Portugal; 3) Characterizes, sizes and designs parts of public service (PTD) and private service (PTC) transformation stations (MT/BT), whether overhead, low cabin or integrated into buildings, according to procedures adopted in Portugal. 4) Characterizes the various parts of the project from the preliminary program to the execution project (descriptive memory and justification, including calculations) and the designed parts (diagrams, schemes and plan layouts).

Teaching methodologies and assessment
Teaching methodologies and assessment
Carrying out an electrical installation project, with a strong analogy to a real project, carrying out alternative studies, using the theory of electrical circuits previously studied, allows, simultaneously, an understanding of the theoretical aspects of circuits and typical solutions used in electrical installations. At the same time, the Teacher acts in the classroom as an experienced engineer, which is believed to be motivating for the student, and as the recipient, or owner of the project, of the project being carried out.
