This course aims to provide the mathematical bases in Probability and Statistics for Engineering courses at UL-CUP. At the end of the course, the student should: Master general concepts. Recognize the interest of the statistical treatment of data and results. Master some sampling techniques, recognizing and avoiding major mistakes. Organize data sets. Make adjustments to mathematical sets of bivariate data and interpret the results. Decompose a time series and interpret the results then extracted. Master the concept of probability and recognize some theoretical distributions. Understand the importance of statistical inference, performing point estimation and interval estimation. Use Excel and SPSS in the application of the above.

Objectives
Objectives
It is intended that the student internalize the random nature of phenomena and the need to address data and results taking into account this aspect. The objective is to provide students with general concepts and the ability to statistically treat various data sets, managing to draw conclusions. At the same time, they should assign probabilities to some events of the day-to-day and also learn to apply some theoretical distributions in various situations. The student will be motivated to use Excel and SPSS to achieve several of the above goals.
