The UC Exercise Physiology is part of the 1st cycle in Physical Education and Sport, scientific area Physical Education and Sport. It aims to provide basic knowledge related to the main issues of physiology applied to exercise / physical activity. It is intended that students regognize physiological, functional and organic alterations resulting from the practice of different types of exercises / physical activity. This knowledge is determinant for the orientation towards high sports performance, physical education and in the primary or secondary prevention of pathologies in which the lack of physical activity is one of the risk factors.

Objectives
Objectives
It is intended that students acquire knowledge and skills that allow to identify, characterize, evaluate and control the main physiological changes resulting from the practice of exercise. Defining the learning objectives (LO), it is intended that students who attend this UC: LO1) acquire basic knowledge of the History of Exercise Physiology; LO2) apply the fundamental knowledge acquired in the discipline of Biochemistry and cell biology (1st year) to the Exercise; LO3) acquire basic knowledge of the acute and chronic adaptations of the organism to exercise, namely at the level of the Nervous, Neuromuscular, Cardiovascular, Respiratory, Endocrine, Urinary and Immune systems.

Teaching methodologies and assessment
Different teaching methodologies (ME) will be used: Expository classes (ME1): Resolution of practical cases (ME2), Viewing and discussion of documentaries/videos (ME3), Bibliographic research (ME4), Analysis of scientific articles (ME5) , Small group activities (ME6), Feedback information provided by the teacher about the work carried out (ME7).
