Presentation
The study of Social Policies (SP) is fundamental in the training of Social Workers (SW). This curricular unit (CU) focuses on SP as a process and result of complex and contradictory relationships, as a set of actions and inactions, which aim to ensure redistribution, risk management and social inclusion. Giving continuity to the topics covered in the CU Social Policies, this CU focuses on the interconnection between SP and Social Work (SW). In this sense, sectoral SP are addressed, as well as the role of SW professionals, which operates both in the regulation of social problems and inequalities, and in the realisation of rights and social justice. The diversity of SP in the area of social protection, health, justice, education and local government is presented, as well as the competences of SW professionals in them.
