    The curricular unit Research Report in Social Work II is a central unit for training in Social Work, considering that the investigative dimension and the construction of knowledge constitute foundations for social intervention, it is essential to consolidate the theoretical-methodological, ethical-political and technical-operational dimensions for professional practice. Thus, this course aims to work with students on research skills directed towards the construction of scientific knowledge in Social Work, developing the theoretical basis, the application of methods and techniques for data collection, as well as data processing and communication of results.

  • Objectives

    Objectives

    O1 - To promote research as a privileged strategy of the theory-practice relationship and the foundation of innovative, critical and creative practice; O2 - Develop an attitude of research, observation and reflection on social phenomena and problems; O3 - Develop theoretical and operational skills to identify areas of enquiry, questioning and problematization leading to the development of research projects and action; O4 - Maintain epistemological vigilance in the processes to be implemented: on the supporting theories, methods and techniques to implement and their suitability given the questions asked and objectives set; O5 - Deepen the research issues directed to the phase of collection and processing of data and presentation of results; O6 - Use the theoretical and methodological supports and operative procedures in the qualitative perspective appropriate to organizational contexts and specific situations.

    Teaching methodologies and assessment

    The teaching methodology takes the form of an active learning system, learning by doing, based on the knowledge previously acquired by the students and their internship experience. As the operative dimension is essential, it is realised through collective exercises and the theoretical and methodological orientation of individual investigations, which will deal with social issues with social relevance and in relation to the professional practice of social work.
