This course is a fundamental component of the students' journey throughout the Master's program in Clinical Neuropsychology, enabling in-depth exploration of brain anatomy and functioning, laying the foundation for understanding various topics such as research methods in neuroscience (e.g., neuroimaging), brain alterations in central nervous system pathologies, and the relationship between the brain and neuropsychological variables. Thus, the consolidation of the content covered in 'Fundamentals of Brain Function' will empower students to develop a set of skills and knowledge that will be consistently required throughout the Master's program.

Objectives
Objectives
LO1: Understand the epistemological root of the study of brain function and the study of the ontogenesis of the nervous system; LO2: Understand the global structure of the nervous system as well as the basic principles of synaptic transmission and neuroplasticity; LO3: Understand the role of the peripheral nervous system in the reflex regulation of bodily functions and in the maintenance of internal homeostasis; LO4: Understand the functional anatomy of the subcortical structures of the Nervous System in the organization of afferent information (e.g. sensory) and in the production of efferent commands (e.g. motor) LO5: Learn to identify brain regions of the limbic system and its connections; LO6: Understand the anatomy and function of the neocortex and its connections.
