Objectives
By the end of the course unit, students should be able to: LO1. Understand the role of the financial manager within the organisation and their influence on value creation. LO2. Apply investment appraisal criteria in contexts of certainty and uncertainty, incorporating risk and inflation. LO3. Estimate the cost of capital (equity, debt, and weighted average) and analyse its implications for the financing structure. LO4. Evaluate companies using different valuation methods, including discounted cash flows and market multiples. LO5. Interpret the economic and financial performance of an organisation using indicators of profitability, liquidity, solvency, and efficiency. LO6. Discuss dividend policy in the context of capital structure, value creation, and agency conflicts. LO7. Recognise the impact of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors on financial decisions and corporate value.
