    The Postgraduate Course in International Relations and Political and Economic Diplomacy is based on the competences and resources of the Faculty of Law and Political Science of Universidade Lusófona do Porto. It seeks to deepen the knowledge inherent in the areas of International Relations and Diplomacy and respond above all to the needs of the Lusophone Area. It is a postgraduate course in which training is geared towards in-depth and innovative knowledge in the areas of International Relations and Diplomacy, at national and international level. The proposed curricular programme directs studies towards the development of research into theoretical and practical issues and deepens the theoretical and practical knowledge of International Relations and Diplomacy needed to perform functions, mainly in national ministries, governmental and non-governmental organisations and private and public companies. It is intended that the knowledge acquired in this course will strengthen the in-depth qualification needed above all by professionals in political and economic diplomacy.

    The following are eligible for this Postgraduate Course: - Holders of a Bachelor's degree or legal equivalent in International Relations, European Studies, European Studies and International Relations, European Studies, Lusophone Studies and International Relations, Political Science, Law, Military Sciences, Political Sciences, International Business, Political Sociology, and the like. - Holders of a foreign higher academic degree, awarded following the 1st Cycle of Studies organised in accordance with the principles of the Bologna Process by a State adhering to this process. - Holders of a foreign higher academic degree that is recognised as satisfying the objectives of a bachelor's degree. - Holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum that attests to their ability to successfully complete this Postgraduate Course.

    Knowledge, abilities and skills to be acquired

    The curricular part of this postgraduate course provides solid training in International Relations and Diplomacy. It also seeks to develop skills that promote critical thinking, the ability to analyse and scientific autonomy, and which are the starting point (for those wishing to obtain a Master's Degree) for research and the preparation of the dissertation to be carried out during the Master's Degree.

    Future Studies

    The Postgraduate Programme in International Relations and Political and Economic Diplomacy has the specific scientific areas/research lines of International Relations, Diplomacy, Political Science and History. Through CICPRIS, lecturers and students on the Postgraduate Programme in International Relations and Diplomacy can develop their research projects. The Area of Political Science and International Relations publishes the journal Res-Pública, Revista Lusófona de Ciência Política e Relações Internacionais (Lusophone Journal of Political Science and International Relations), encouraging postgraduate, master's and doctoral students to produce and publish their scientific work.
  • Observations

    Observations

    Schedule: Friday (6.30pm to 9.30pm) and Saturday (9.30am to 1.30pm) Students of this PG will have privileged access to the activities of CEERI-Centre for European Studies and International Relations, OLAE-Observatório Lusófono de Atividades Económicas and CPLP-Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries, given that the Lusófona Group is a Consultative Observer of the CPLP. This PG supports the implementation of the UBSIF-CPLP/Union of Insurance Banks and Financial Institutions of the CPLP.
