Objectives
Objectives
After attending this CU, the student should know the structure and function of different cell types and their elements, and understand the basic mechanisms that allow cells to function as an independent unit or as part of a larger organism. The student should comprehend the relation between cell (and cellular elements) structure and function, as well as cellular regulation mechanisms. The student should also understand the mechanisms involved in the storage, usage and transmission of genetic information. The knowledge above mentioned is of extreme importance for the future understanding of cellular mechanisms involved in pharmacological action. The laboratory classes allow students to manipulate and analyse cells and their components. Autonomy, organization, responsibility, bibliography research and group cooperation are promoted in the laboratory and during the elaboration of an oral presentation.

Teaching methodologies and assessment
Teaching methodologies and assessment
Active learning methodologies based on the resolution of practical problems, on the exposition by the students of some concepts addressed in laboratory classes and the use of observations/results obtained in the laboratory as a starting point for the discussion of more complex concepts/topics.
