Class Scientific English

English is science universal languagem, it's knowledge is essential to this study cycle - Biology. The scientific English writing is particularly simple, but a little different from common English. One of the objectives is the familirization with this kind of language by reading, discussing and presenting scientific papers, all of which are essential for a future science.

This curricular unit classes are theorical-practical. Classes are given with audiovisual resources to support the desired discussion. Small documentaries/films are shown in English, and when available with English subtitles to better familiarize the students to the language sound and pronunciation, as well as writing (if subtitles available). The texts analyzed and discussed try to be pertinent for the students, to motivate them and captivate their interest. On the second half of the semester the students choose their texts and/or scientific paper, the idea being give the students more autonomy and motivation.
