It aims to provide knowledge of the technical fundamentals of post-production for cinema and audiovisuals. It is an initial discipline focusing on the principles, processes, methods, software, equipment, files and formats. The areas of intervention are Editing and Colour. In either of these areas, it is intended that the student acquires technical skills that allow him/her to develop audiovisual projects. It is also intended to establish a basic knowledge that can be expanded in future subjects. This curricular unit is articulated with the Atelier de Criação Audiovisual e Cinematográfica I at two levels: while in this course we will have a technical look over the process, it will be complemented with a perspective that frames it as a process of conceptual and artistic creation. This course collaborates with the Atelier which promotes a transversal project of the creation of a fiction short film, which enables the practical application, in a transversal way, of the knowledge acquired.

Technical fundamentals of the cinematographic editing process. Manipulation of non-linear editing software. The language of film and its practical application in the editing process. The workflow of post-production. Technical fundamentals of post-production. File interchange between software. Aspect-ratio, frame rate and colour depth. The process of color grading. Techniques of color grading. Concepts of image composition and use of colour.

Understanding of what is the post-production process in Cinema. Technical knowledge of reference: files, codecs, formats, frame rates and aspect-ratios. Create a post-production workflow. Use software for non-linear editing and colour grading. Know the conceptual basis of film editing.
