    The European Union is the most ambitious economic and political integration project under way in the world. Its position has gradually been asserting itself in the international context, raising it to the level of an effective actor in international relations. The aim of this curricular unit is to present and analyze the pillars of the European Union's foreign policy, as well as its main vectors.

    I. EU as a global actor 1.1. EU institutional framework in international politics - an overview 1.2. The external role of EU: a genuine actor in the international system? 2. European Actorness - the debate 2.1. The perspective of European Studies and International Relations - theoretical debate 2.2. From capabilities to institutional performance: the design of institutions and institutional performance III. The dimensions operationalization  3.1. Monetary, financial and fiscal policies 3.2. Climate policy 3.3. Security and peace.

    Objectives

    In this curricular unit, a theoretical and methodological approach is carried out, adequate to the knowledge, understanding and analysis of the European Union's foreign policy and the assessment of its effective status as a relevant international actor. Students will thus be able to have a real conception of the place and role of the EU in the world, allowing them to understand the true international dimension of the EU, namely in the economic, political and diplomatic fields.
