Cultural and artistic framework from the history of clothing to the concept of fashion - Clothing from prehistory to the Great Empires - Clothing in the Classical Period - Clothing in the Middle Ages - The neoclassical - The 19th century: Bourgeois fashions Fashion and Industry: Symbolic Fashion as opposed to official fashion; Appearance of Haute Couture; The changes of the end of the century; fashion and sport - The 20th century: The influence of the Great War on women's fashion; The Roaring Twenties and Gabrielle Chanel; The 30s; The Second World War and its projection in Fashion - Christian Dior and the New Look; The 50's; The 60's and the importance of English fashion; The 70's; The 80's; the nineties - 21st Century - paradigm of interpretation of the history of fashion in new approaches to consumption; brands' message in the face of social, political, economic and sustainability contexts.

Objectives
Objectives
Upon completing this UC, students: - Expanded their general culture to the fields of the fashion history, becoming familiar with the main historical references. - Understand the different ticket regimes (between creative disciplines and throughout history) - Identify, recognize and distinguish historical references in the clothing industry and realize the importance of images from the past in contemporary production. Develop a critical and discursive thinking based on the fashion design history.

Teaching methodologies and assessment
The evaluation will be continuous based on the monitoring of the work in class and the results of the work developed. Mandatory work carried out throughout the semester - 30%; Final work - 50% Oral Presentation - if it is defined that there is an oral presentation of some or all of the mandatory work, it should be noted that students will have to present their work in a class context, to be defined by the teacher, in front of the rest of the class, subject to questions by part of the teacher or teachers. The grade for this evaluation moment may be included in the final grade of the work or have a separate evaluation. Debate and class participation - 10%; Attendance - 10%.
