This course aims to develop the skills of visual language through photographic expression, around the analysis, criticism and practical implementation. To use these skills in order to produce photographic exercises that respond to issues with relevance in today's world (understood as the field of activity of photojournalism).

Syllabus
The photographic image in its narrative and communicative dimension; Contemporary photojournalism and new paradigms; Photography and manipulation; The idea of limit and ethics (legal aspects and their contexts); The social impact of reporting photography; Brief history of photojournalism: from the 19th century to the 20th century; The Press, photo agencies and collectives; The photographic "truth"; Fiction vs. document; Use of the photographic device according to the context; The market for reportage photography - media; Research methods in reportage photography; Photographic response to a theme, agenda or commission; Production and budgeting of reportage work (what to take into account and how to account for time and means).

Objectives
Objectives
Develop the ability to analyze and criticize before images, their speeches and contexts. It is also intended to train students to produce photographic works in the areas of photojournalism, photographic reporting and photographic narrative. Provide students with the means to identify and characterize a photographic work in the field of photojournalism and learn about the history and the main authors of the genre. Recognize the image as a narrative element; develop critical analysis skills in the context of the image. Address the main players and moments in the history of photojournalism.

Teaching methodologies and assessment
Readings in class in dialogue with practical exercises presented and discussed by everyone in the class, fostering an environment of strong collaboration and interaction between peers. The course concludes with the editing and production of a collective physical publication in newspaper format.
