Presentation
This course unit aims to present the theoretical-methodological, technical-operative, and ethical-political foundations that underpin social intervention with individuals and families, grounded in critical reflection and theoretical rigor. It also seeks to promote an understanding of the conceptual complexity of Social Work by analyzing the relationship between theory and practice in everyday professional contexts. The course unit further provides the acquisition of theoretical and operative knowledge in the field of Social Work, with an emphasis on theoretical models and methodologies for individualized and family-based intervention. This unit is articulated with and complements the course units TMSSI and TMSSIII and Community Intervention, contributing to an integrated and coherent training.

Teaching methodologies and assessment
Teaching methodologies and assessment
Theoretical-practical classes adopt active teaching methodologies centred on the student, encouraging autonomous knowledge construction, critical reflection, and argumentative thinking. Emphasis is placed on debate, the expression of well-founded opinions, and collaborative learning, fostering the development of reflective and interpersonal skills. Additionally, the course promotes closer engagement with professional and community realities through open classes with guest professionals from the field of Social Work and through pedagogical experiences outside the classroom. Part of the assessment is based on practical work developed during class sessions, promoting the application of acquired content and skills in simulated contexts. These strategies aim to enhance students’ active involvement in their own learning process, strengthening the connection between theory and practice.
