This curricular unity intends to promote analytical and methodological skills in sociological field. The main goal is to involve students in a learning process about the selection and construction of the object study (theoretical problem, analytical model, observation and delimitation of the units of analysis) and also about methods and techniques (qualitative and quantitative) adequate to their research projects.

Design and planning research projects that promote reflection, analytical and methodological skills in different scientific, technical and cultural fields with greater relevance in: 1) political, social, economic, cultural and symbolic dimensions; 2) urban, rural and multicultural contexts; 3) security and conflicts, multiculturalism, citizenship, gender, public policies, values ¿¿and violence, among other subjects; 4) Develop skills to: job market or within the scope of sociological intervention or academic research.
