This Curricular Unit aims to prepare students to elaborate a research project in an autonomous and individual way (construction of theoretical issues, methodology, discussion and presentation of results , reflection on the results achieved (limitations and potential of the research carried out). It is also intended that students acquire skills on data dissemination through the analysis of scientific articles, dissertations and research project reports. The objective is also to prepare students to develop the final work of the graduation/internship.

1. Review of the stages of scientific procedure and sociological research. 1.1. Review of information collection instruments. 1.2. Review of treatment techniques and analysis of collected data. 1.3. Analytical interpretation and formal presentation of data (analysis grids, tables, graphs, etc.). 1.4. Construction and validation of collected data. 2. Communication and dissemination techniques of scientific data. 2.1. Analysis of scientific articles; dissertations, research project reports. 2.2. Ethical use of AI tools in sociological research. 3. Procedures and techniques for preparing a research project 4. Planning and formal organization of the research report in accordance with technical, scientific and ethical standards.

Objectives
Objectives
It is intended that students: (i) Consolidate their knowledge and apply, in practice, data collection, construction, processing, analysis and interpretation skills. ii) Know and identify the different phases and methodological strategies of scientific research; iii) How to use AI in sociological research iv) Develop skills of observation and analysis of social reality; v) Consolidate knowledge and skills that enable them to develop research projects. vi) Consolidate oral presentation skills sustained by clear, structured objectives and argumentation sustained by scientific knowledge. vii) Acquire skills to disseminate data science and results.

Conducting an exploratory fieldwork exercise with students in a neighborhood of Lisbon (carrying out exploratory interviews, field diary, collection of visual material, among others).
