    This course unit aims to equip students with the skills to identify and explore innovative opportunities in the market, whether in established companies or startups. Students will be guided through the necessary steps to turn an innovative idea into a successful venture, including gathering critical information for feasibility analysis and developing a robust business plan. The course unit is designed to motivate and prepare students to develop innovative projects that can significantly contribute to the growth and competitiveness of the companies and startups in which they will work. By the end of the course, students will be able to lead innovation processes, manage innovative projects, and successfully venture into the market.

  • Objectives

    Objectives

    The objective of this curricular unit (CU) is to make students aware of the importance of an entrepreneurial and innovative attitude; and provide students with knowledge and technical and social skills that allow them to transform a business idea into a concrete organizational reality.   After completing this UC, students should be able to: (1) understand and distinguish the various types of innovation; (2) understand the innovation management process; (3) know the main requirements of the Portuguese Standard for the Management of ID and Innovation (NP 4457:2007); (4) recognize the different modalities of intellectual property; (5) understand the process of turning an idea into a business; (6) knowing how to gather the necessary information to carry out a feasibility analysis of the idea and write a business plan. The UC thus proposes to motivate and prepare students to develop innovative projects in companies and/or startups.
  • Teaching methodologies and assessment

    Teaching methodologies and assessment

    All classes will be theoretical-practical in order to encourage learning through methodologies such as learning-by-doing, problem-based learning, and the active search for knowledge. Taking into account that one of the evaluation activities is the development of a business plan, this methodology will allow the development of this step-by-step.
