    This UC aims to develop knowledge in the field of forensic psychological assessment with adults - victims and offenders. In more detail, it is intended to train students with the theoretical-practical skills necessary for the psychological assement activity in the forensic context, namely, with regard to the definition of evaluation procedures; assessment strategies, and instruments used and the elaboration/writing of psychological assessment reports.

Forensic psychological assessment - Introduction and contextualization - Legal framework for forensic psychological assessment and the role of the psychologist as a forensic expert - Characteristics, principles, technical problems, and ethical issues - Impact on judicial decision-making   CP2. Forensic Psychological Assessment Process - Protocols of psychological assessment and information collection approaches/methodologies - Cognitive Interviewing   CP3. Forensic psychological reports - Objectives, specificities, and recommendations for preparation and writing   CP4. Forensic psychological assessment in criminal proceedings - Assessment of victims of domestic violence - Assessment of rape victims - Assessment of domestic violence offenders - Assessment of sexual offenders - Assessment of offenders in cases of maltreatment/abuse/neglect   CP5. Forensic psychological assessment in civil proceedings - Assessment of the exercise of parental responsibilities - Assessment of psychological damage    
  • Objectives

    Objectives

    OA1: Explain the framing and conceptual evolution of psychological assessment in general, and forensic psychological assessment in particular, addressing ethical, technical, and legal issues; OA2. Enable students with the theoretical and practical skills necessary for the planning and implementation of assessment methodologies appropriate to the specificities of the cases; OA3. Develop students skills in the elaboration of forensic reports (objectives, specificities and recommendations); OA4. Develop and train critical thinking skills regarding assessment tools and protocols in this context.

    The innovative teaching methodologies for this format include collaborative learning and problem-based learning. These approaches actively involve students, allowing them to apply theoretical concepts, collaborate with peers, and analyze real-world problems. These methodologies aim to promote knowledge in the applied aspect of forensic psychology, specifically in the areas of victim and offender assessment.
