This curricular unit aims to develop knowledge within the scope of Victimology as an area of knowledge, exploring its historical, conceptual and epistemological evolution and the role of the victim as an object of study. It aims to address the fundamental concepts of Victimology, the main dilemmas and ethical issues, and raise awareness of different types of victimization, their epidemiology, abusive dynamics, impact on victims, measurement instruments, and formal support responses. At the end of the UC, students should be able to understand the emergence and paradigmatic evolution of Victimology; understand and reflect on the role of the victim in the crime, the experiences of victimization, the formal and informal support systems, and the ethical dilemmas and issues to be managed; understand the main types of victimization and specific dynamics; and recognize new types and forms of victimization.

Objectives
LO1. Recognize victimology as an area of autonomous knowledge. LO2. Explain the historical development of victimology and the associated ideological and political transformations. LO3. Explain and differentiate the main explanatory theories of victimization and the main measurement tools. LO4. Recognize the organization of victim intervention systems and reflect on ethical-deontological issues in the articulation between the victim and the justice system. LO5. Recognize the main types of victimization in childhood, adolescence, and adulthood and explain their epidemiology, abusive dynamics, explanatory conceptual models, and associated psychosocial impact. LO6. Recognize and discuss other types of victimization that have recently integrated discussion and research spaces in this domain. LO7. Apply and integrate theoretical knowledge into conceptualization of specific cases and critical analysis of scientific articles on the topics covered.

Theoretical-practical component, with analysis and discussion of case studies. Demonstration activities (roleplay) in small groups. Analysis of articles in small groups and subsequent discussion in class.
