    In Journalism and Digital Ecosystems, students are equipped with the tools to create multimedia pieces based on data, an essential skill for investigative journalism. This approach prepares them to work in areas that require rigor, innovation and adaptability, underlining the relevance of this unit in the context of the study cycle. The course is theoretical and practical and also promotes theoretical and ethical reflection on the transformation of journalism in the digital age. This curricular unit offers master's students the opportunity to explore good practices and the profession's most pressing challenges, encouraging a critical analysis of the impact of digital on journalism as a social and professional activity. The semester focuses on the development of an interconnected data-driven feature using Flourish.

    Objectives

    The contents of this curricular unit will enable students to acquire the skills to: Understand the methods, tools and systems needed to create digital journalistic pieces, with a focus on data-based stories and the potential of investigative journalism. Apply appropriate technologies to develop innovative and socially relevant multimedia projects. Communicate effectively using visual, written and oral communication, with clear and impactful data representations. Identify the characteristics and potential of text, image, audio, video and data, using them to create engaging narratives. Adapt journalistic content for different digital platforms and audiences, exploring innovative formats compatible with mobile devices. Create interconnected digital features that rigorously integrate data, combining creativity and technical mastery to meet the challenges of contemporary journalism.
