Class History of Media and Investigative Journalism

  • Presentation

    Presentation

How to investigate the past journalistically? Using concrete cases, this course seeks to reconcile the practice of historical investigative journalism with the history of the media. The mysteries of the historical past remain one of the most attractive topics for journalists, and relevant historical events often make the front pages of newspapers and magazines and are the subject of documentary television series and even radio podcasts. To explore the historical past, it is necessary to turn to the media that first told these stories: from paintings to engravings; from newspapers to history books; from photographs to current affairs films: from documentary archives to personal collections. Through practical investigative journalism and research in documentary, photographic and film archives, you will gain an understanding of the history of the media in Portugal.
