This course introduces students to the constitutional and legal framework of State intervention in the economy. It addresses the concept of the economic constitution, instruments of direct and indirect intervention, and the role of regulation and competition law. The unit aims to foster a critical understanding of the legal order of the economy and the interaction between public law and regulatory mechanisms, with particular emphasis on their relevance to legal practice in institutional, administrative, and regulatory contexts.

Objectives
Objectives
To provide students with knowledge of the economic constitution, State intervention in the economy (both direct and indirect), and the legal regimes of regulation and competition. Additionally, students are expected to develop: (i) the ability to identify and interpret legal situations in the regulatory-economic field; (ii) problem-solving skills in complex legal contexts; and (iii) critical and reflective thinking on the scope and limits of public intervention in the economy.

Teaching methodologies and assessment
Where appropriate, depending on the topic covered in class, simulations and debates will be used in the course of the lesson. Students with special status provided for by law or regulation that exempts them from mandatory attendance to classes, but who wish to be included in the continuous assessment regime, must inform the Professor of the course as soon as they become aware of this fact, but always with 90 days' notice before the end of classes, so that the Professor can define another form of work or support, which may include completing a written assignment, presenting reports, and/or an oral exam.
