The Dissertation is a curricular unit which will be conducted through weekly small group tutoring sessions with the supervising teacher. Students will be assigned to teachers based on their scientific background.

Seminar sessions will cover the following topics: 1. Introduction to the study of Cognitive Science and Education 2. Research ethics and deontology 3. Scientific writing and APA standards 4. Bibliographic search in online databases: criteria and search operators. 5. Reflection and definition of research themes: Research problem and objectives 6. Objectives
Objectives
This Dissertation curricular unit aims to promote the development of scientific research skills in Cognitive Science and Education. It is intended that students should be able to develop R&D projects in this interdisciplinary field through the knowledge provided in this unit; specifically at the level of: 1) understanding of the different type of studies in scientific research, and 2) development of the ability to reflect and develop the research problem, with their objectives and hypotheses of study, as well as their knowledge related to the scientific method and according to different types and design of the studies in this field.

Teaching methodologies and assessment
Expository and demonstrative method. The initial lectures aim to introduce the contents and rules of operation about the unit, as well as the principles of ethics and deontology. During the course of the activities, the demonstration method is used, and specific training will be developed at each point related to practical research skills, namely, searching on online databases of scientific articles, scientific writing and APA standards, and data processing and analysis.
