This curricular unit is fundamental to understanding contemporary society and the transformations that have occurred, affecting social workers' professional practice. Social Work is defined according to the context that surrounds it, as such, social workers must be aware of and reflect on societal transformations for the implementation of social intervention. In this curricular unit, students are expected to acquire knowledge about the role of social intervention and develop a reflective and critical attitude toward current social intervention issues and on the analytical references of and in social intervention.

Teaching methodologies and assessment
Teaching methodologies and assessment
The classes are theoretical-practical and the content will be taught in a constant interconnection between its theoretical exposition and its interpretation and practical application using robust and current scientific production. Active methodologies and the inverted classroom strategy will be preferential, as well as group dynamics and brainstorming, promoting understanding and reflection on the syllabus. The course unit will be approved on the basis of two mini written tests (35%+35%=70%) and the preparation and presentation of a group reflection (30%).
