Presentation
The aim is to introduce an understanding of the usefulness of architecture and the relationships between its forms and ways of experiencing spaces, its implementation in the territory, and construction techniques, allowing this knowledge to be related to the historical perspective and applied critically in the Project. The main theme of the semester is housing: urban insertion, urban morphology, the study of dwellings, distribution systems, module associations, typological options. Thus, the development of the exercise presupposes joint and integrated work between Design, Construction, and Structures, and in the proposed working method, the architectural formalization of the design idea will be as important as its constructive materialization. Therefore, considering that the knowledge acquired in previous courses is essential for the acquisition of knowledge and skills, the precedence between Construction and Structures is understood to be binding.

The exercise will thus be developed with two aspects in mind: urban strategy and building. The urban strategy will result from research carried out on site, the definition of objectives, controlling and defining public space and road or access structures, and determining volumes and types of occupation. In summary, the exercise seeks to: - reflect on issues of urban integration, urban morphology, and architectural housing typology; - study dwellings, distribution systems, modular associations, and building configuration; - understand the notion of order: the relationship between functional organization, definition, and structure. During classes, teachers (and classmates) will critique the project, always encouraging the investigation of relevant case studies—both in terms of form and theoretical basis—and the development of the design at all proposed scales (1:1000, 1:500, 1:200).

Objectives
Objectives
The skills to be developed are in the field of project practice (conceptual, theoretical, and instrumental values): - fundamental notions of scale, proportion, and precision; - integration of interdisciplinary knowledge into the architectural proposal; - research and project development method; - understanding of the surrounding urban structures and logic of the proposed transformations; - mastery of project tools; - understanding of the concept of architectural languages and their constructive materialization; - knowledge of housing issues. These objectives are in line with the MIA study plan, where: - the pedagogical program is multidisciplinary and centered on the Project CU; - the study cycle is integrated, with a framework of values and skills that are embodied in the Project; - a system of horizontal coordination between the UCs of each academic year and vertical coordination of the scientific areas of the study cycle is adopted.

Teaching methodologies and assessment
Teaching methodologies and assessment
The methodological model of the CU is aligned with the basic principle of the Bologna Process, promoting the transition from teaching centered on the passive acquisition of knowledge to a paradigm focused on the development of skills. The methodology will be based on: - a direct, personal, and individualized teacher-student relationship, valuing the particularities of each one; - the deepening of design and other methods of understanding the urban unit under study; - the presentation of intervention proposals and comparative criticism between students' work in parallel with the development of the project and its rationale, with the participation of teachers from various disciplines that converge in the project; - the integration of interdisciplinary knowledge into the architectural proposal - the presentation and discussion of exemplary projects in solving the problems under study.
