1. From the influence of the traditional methodology to new methodological collections: 1.1. Interview (qualitative and quantitative); 1.1.1. Focus groups. 1.2. Document Analysis. 1.3. Content analysis in media literacy research. 1.4. Public Opinion Research. 1.5. Observation. 1.5. Virtual ethnography 1.6. Visual methods (Photovoice and Photo-Elicitation, etc.). 1.7. Documents and various resources online. 1.8. Documents and artefacts collected by the public. 1.9. Social media research. 2. Data analysis: 2.1. Statistical analysis; 2.2. Content analysis; 2.3. Discourse analysis. 3. Data analysis software: 3.1. SPSS - Statistical Package for the Social Sciences; 3.2. webQDA - Qualitative Data Analysis Software.

Objectives
With this UC Curricular Unit II we aim at continuing the pragmatic program of UC I and, consequently, it is important to deepen the knowledge of rigorous conceptual instruments that enable the students to investigate in the area of MIL. Thus, it is intended that the student be able to: 1. Reinforce the knowledge of the specificities of the scientific methods used in the area of MIL; 2. Develop practical skills that allow the collection and analysis of data; 3. Recognize and experiment with existing computerized means of research, for example: SPSS - Statistical Package for the Social Sciences — in the field of quantitative research and webQDA - Qualitative Data Analysis Software - in the field of qualitative research.
