Presentation
The Faculty of Law of the Universidade Lusófona, despite its youth, is already - within the institutions of higher education, public or private, which undertake research and teaching of law in Portugal - a consolidated reference.
And this projection is the result of several factors which, without a shadow of a doubt, we can highlight: firstly, a teaching staff of the highest quality, which wants to be continually renewed and which, even in the most adverse situations, fully assumes the challenges and , in an extraordinary way, reinvents itself to better teach and investigate; then, its geographical insertion in a campus, in many ways, privileged; what follows, without worrying about giving any order or sequence to these factors, it is entirely fair to point out that the Faculty is anchored in a certain idea of the University that privileges, as an essential pedagogical axis, the strong relationship, of a virtuous complicity, between teacher and student, without, however, restricting their creative spirit and freedom to be people and agents of citizenship; and still, and here we are, to be able to say, without any fuss, being part and motivating agent of a legal culture that has roots in national territory but that does not give up its wings to seek enrichment from other nations and cultures, especially those that with us they share centuries and centuries of history (Brazil, Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, São Tomé and Príncipe, Timor, Macau). And more. All this without forgetting, of course, international relations, especially those that are intertwined with the European legal world.
Therefore, coming to study with us is to be sure that seriousness, innovation, accompaniment, complicity in the search for the future, which is also the search for work, but, undeniably, the certainty that critical jurists of whole spirit.
With this, we can say, without false modesty, that to be at the Faculty of Law of the Universidade Lusófona is to be part of a plural, knowledgeable, demanding, critical, sober legal community, open to all that is new and that does not need to preach it.
