This CU aims to: Further develop students’ vocabulary range and fluency in English. Enhance students’ language skills for acting and media contexts. Build competence in functional English for professional and social situations, both orally (participating in meetings) and in writing (emails/CV/cover letter). Reinforce students’ communicational tools for more efficient, courteous and professional interactions in English, in situations involving exchange of opinions and discussion of ideas and proposals, with convergent and divergent points of view. Raise students’ awareness of how to enhance their CVs and cover letters for better results. Enhance students's ability to exchange points of view and opinions in English on topics pertaining to their field of education.

Coming to terms with terminology – the language of film and TV. Different genres and their conventions, areas of the film industry and the reception of films/shows (reviews). Understanding professional meetings - preparing, calling and the role of the chair. Keys to effective meetings. Suitable language to engage with others, elicit and offer opinions and proposals, respond adequately. The language of politeness and assertiveness. Job hunting – enhancing CV, personal statement, cover letter Idiomatic English for more natural interactions – idioms, phrasal verbs, advanced vocabulary

Objectives
The main competencies to be acquired are: The ability to express him/herself fluently, clearly and concisely, orally and in writing; The ability to participate efficiently in professional meetings, using suitable language to express and respond to opinions and proposals. The ability to prepare their CV/personal statement/cover letter for impact and effect. The ability to identify and use the correct terms related to the film and television industries. Teaching methodologies and assessment
Interactive lecture, short lecture times associated with audiovisual resources and demonstrations (real situations or simulations video viewing, and recordings), individual and pair activities, discussions. Such exposure will stimulate students to think, debate ideas, collaborate with each other and develop deeper learning. The applied methodology includes role-playing, recreating real life working contexts, activating all learned topics in simulations of common situations.
