Although most students will have studied English previously, further training is needed to be more effective in communication with others, to properly understand scientific texts, and to transfer relevant knowledge to support their future careers.

    Syllabus

    Within the framework of beauty care, health, and well-being, all aspects of English communication will be considered. Strength and dexterity will be trained using elements of popular culture and current scientific works. On-line and AI tools will be recognized as useful elements in the development of innate fluency. Among other topics, course fundamentals will include: Vocabulary development (including pronunciation and accent variations) Basic grammar (parts of speech, verb conjugation, sentence structure) Communication clarity and correctness Basics of scientific communication Listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills will be tested and practiced, considering general, professional, and scientific audiences.

    Objectives

    This course is designed to build proficiency in English – to understand and to be understood – with a focus on applications toward beauty care and well-being. Along with vocabulary growth and improved grammar usage, instruction and exercise in reading, writing, speaking (pronunciation), and listening will be fundamental. Both American and British English will be presented, along with other native English.
  • Teaching methodologies and assessment

    Teaching methodologies and assessment

    A variety of teaching methodologies will be used. Traditional short lectures on themes related to health and well-being will be presented. Scientific publications will also be reviewed and discussed, considering both content and presentation clarity. Interactive games/activities (including Moodle/Kahoot!) and "student teaching" will support a dynamic learning environment. Bilingual tools such as TedEd videos and the journal Biomedical and Biopharmaceutical Research will also be used.
