Class Introduction to Civil Engineering

1. In the discipline one of the main objectives is to transmit to the students elements about the history of techological evolution of the civil engineering asociated to the evolution of the construction materialsas well as the design technics 2. Special attention wil be paid to the importance of civil engineering for the society in the econonic and social point of view as well as to the well-fair of the population. 3. Particular attention wil be done to the relevance of ethics and deonthologie in the professional activity.

A apresentação da evolução histórica das tecnologias e dos materiais de construção permitem ao aluno perceber a importância do conhecimento dessa evolução nas diversas vertentes de engenharia civil associadas ao dimensionamento, considerando a física dos materiais e os métodos de dimensionamento com recurso a modelos empíricos, físicos e computacionais. Destaca-se desta forama a importância da Física e da Matemática como disciplinas fundamentais para a compreensão e desenvolvimento desses modelos.

Films of construtive solutions in special works as well presentations of case sudies and remote teaching to support students in homeworks will be provided.
