This course aims to provide students with the technical skills needed to carry out critical discourse analysis processes in the context of Communication Sciences, and with the methodological tools of academic research for conducting studies in the media field. This training is essential in order to prepare students for critical media thinking. This course focuses on understanding discursive phenomena such as new language, neutral languages, ideologies and polarization in journalistic narratives.

Syllabus
Introduction to the concepts of Discourse and Media. Reflection on the discursive practices of the Media. Understanding journalistic devices based on Michel Foucault's concept of Order of Discourse. Categories of media discourse: polarization, disinformation, violence, power, hate speech and irony. Analysis of cases of fracturing media events.

a)Mastering the analytical categories of Discourse, Mediation and Ideology. b)Acquire the ability to decode the various coordinates and strategies that guide the discursive journalistic production of the Media. c)Acquire the ability to decode all forms of mediation in journalistic narratives. e) Acquisition of analytical tools and methodologies that enable both critical professional intervention and academic research in the field of the Media.
