Presentation
Presentation
This curricular unit aims to discuss the role of international organizations in the current context of political and economic globalization (and deglobalization). The defense of national interests in an international framework marked by interdependency and new allegiances creates new challenges for states and other actors, and introduces changes in the regional and international integration models. After analyzing the historical and theoretical origins of international organizations, along with their characteristics, we will proceed to the study of specific international and regional organizations and other actors which have gained more salience in the last decades, including INGOs, diasporas, and other transnational groups.
