    Objectives

    It is intended to provide a thorough knowledge of the principles, institutions and structuring norms of Portuguese Civil Law, as well as the vicissitudes regarding the subjects of the legal relationship. In the end, students should not only be capable to solve the specific situations of the General Theory of Civil Law course, but it's also expected them to acquire and retain a solid education on Private Law that will serve as the basis for their whole academic and professional career.
  • Teaching methodologies and assessment

    Teaching methodologies and assessment

    The classes are based on a theoretical-practical exposition model of the syllabus, which is later complemented with the resolution of concrete hypotheses (practical cases). This methodology of confrontation between theory and its practical application helps to stimulate students' interest and their capacity for critical analysis. The methods used are: The expository method Socratic Inductive Case method The assessment is continuous and will be based on the average of two written assessment elements (continuous assessment tests). Each of the tests contributes to 50% of the final evaluation
