Handball is a theoretical and practical course that has as its field of action within the performance of the professional activity of a coach specialized in handball, regardless of his area of intervention in the educational system (physical education and school sport) and / or sports system (federated or not). The teaching-learning process of this curricular unit is based on two pillars: the national training plan for handball coaches defined by the IPDJ and the scientific evidence (theoretical and applied) on what handball is (characteristics of the formal game, beginners game, its culture), what is taught (content for the initial stages of the athlete's teaching-learning process) and how (or might) teach (teaching means). The relevance of this curricular unit is decisive for the need and for the recognition of the handball coach in the society that operates with the values and culture that the sport has in the country and in Europe.
