This Curricular Unit proposes a mapping of the historical origins of the Lusophony, studying the similarities and differences that currently characterize the Lusophone space, and analyzing its potential as a platform for cooperation in a changing international order. In this context, it is necessary to consider the historical pathways that have shaped the Lusophony, as well as the various interpretations they have generated; to understand the process of institutionalization through the creation of the CPLP, and to take into account the economic, political, geopolitical, social, and cultural diversity that characterizes this space. The Curricular Unit enables students to revisit key concepts such as cooperation, international organization, diplomacy, and multilateralism; to engage in current debates, such as the debate on the relationship between history and memory; and to consider the possibilities and constraints facing not only this space but also the various actors within it.
